Hi,
I'm Larry Sutton and this is my cat, Cleo. She's the good looking one! In brief, I'm a scientist and inventor. If you are interested in my full background, clicking on my name will take you to my LinkedIn profile.
The Carbon Trap Project evolved after my daughter challenged me to find a way the average person could use to remove carbon from the atmosphere. I came up with a simple method using only off-the-shelf consumer equipment and the power of the sun to make charcoal from plant materials like lawn trimmings and food waste. When buried in the landfill this charcoal permanently sequesters 10x more atmospheric carbon than natural processes alone.
With the efficiencies we've achieved thus far, 170,000 people charring once a week could permanently remove as much or more carbon than the industrial Orca plant built in Iceland by Climeworks. I hope to achieve even better performance efficiencies this summer.
Best,
Larry
